New Elementary School
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Western Gateway Elementary, a 36,000 square foot school in Oklahoma City, has been completed in the new Wheeler District. The school accommodates up to 380 students in Pre-K through 4th Grade and curriculum is presented in both English and Spanish. Twelve classrooms surround a 6,700 square foot courtyard with outdoor learning spaces. The cafeteria, located off the courtyard, has internal plantings to visually bring the outdoors into the building. Geometric patterns run through the building to link key spaces. The school is designed to foster creativity, ingenuity and teamwork in the students. A reinforced storm shelter, large enough for all students and faculty, completes the project. The $7 million school was completed and opened for the Fall 2021 school year.
